Delighted to sign a brand new two book deal with Joffe. Couldn't have done this without my agent, Broo Doherty, at DHH Literary Agency, and Kate Lyall Grant at Joffe.

My latest domestic noir/psychological thriller (think toxic family!) is scheduled for release in November 2024, with the next story due in June 2025. It's going to be a very busy few months and I can't wait!

Podium Audio Release of 'The Widow's Boyfriend'

Hannah Curtis is, once again, narrating one of my stories. I'm so excited to hear what she does with the dual narrative in 'The Widow's Boyfriend.'

'Verity's widowed mother, Eleanor, believes her new boyfriend is the perfect gentleman, handsome and distinguished. But Verity thinks he’s a lying conman. Can she prove it?'

Hot off the press: brand new cover, which is utterly gorgeous, of my forthcoming novel.

See the three keys? One for each woman in the life of Lance Stratton - it can only end in tears... or blood.

The audio of THE HOUSEKEEPER'S DAUGHTER is now available for pre-order on Podium Audible

Actual release date: 29/08/23

The Widow's Boyfriend Release - and NO MORE BLOGS!

About to write my next blog post, which I normally do through WordPress, I noticed that, instead of simply being able to read it, folk have to subscribe and then read it, which seems a bit like going around the houses to me. So, from now on, I will be posting any news simply on my news feed.

And, yup, I do have news! ‘The Widow’s Boyfriend,’ my first brand new standalone for Joffe, is to be published on 17th August, 2023 – in time to catch the last half of the summer holiday season. I’m really excited about this one and hope you will be too. To read the ‘blurb’ go to the Novels section on this website.

A ‘new new’ story has been back and forth to my agent and this, too, is in the literary pipeline – details to follow anon. With another idea burbling away, I intend to take a breather to allow it ‘to percolate’ and me to have fun before starting to write again in September.  So, that’s me, and I hope wherever you are, rain or shine, you have a lovely summer.

Apple Audio 'A Deadly Trade'

Very pleased to announce that Apple have released the audio version of 'A Deadly Trade'. It features Ben Onwukwe and his deliciously deadly voice captures my hitman, Hex, perfectly.

Final Target

Apple Audio has released the audio version of 'Final Target' with Ben Onwukwe narrating Hex. To be honest, I couldn't think of a better actor to play him. Ben's voice is dark, deadly and dangerous - just perfect for sparring with MI5 intelligence officer, Inger McCallen. #AppleBooks

Author/Agent Successes

Obtaining agent representation is harder than ever but three authors, who I worked with on their stories, have defied the odds and done just that. In no particular order, Daniel Scanlan is now represented by Ian Drury at Sheil Land Associates, Rob Burnett is represented by Jemima Forrester at David Higham Associates and Charlotte Owen is represented by Nicola Barr at The Bent Agency. Congratulations to all and best of luck with their books and careers.

Unlikely Crime Solving Partners and Moral Ambiguity

"Morally ambiguous characters are the toughest to create and write. I’m not talking about main protagonists with flaws and failings that make them human, (who cares for a perfect player?) but those characters who, from most perspectives, sound more like primary antagonists and thereby run the risk of alienating readers. Very few will happily follow a main man or woman with distinctly iffy morals for hundreds of pages, not least because it makes the climactic scene when good guy versus bad guy (simplistically put, I realise) tricky. This experimental film is made up of a diverse cast of people from different backgrounds and I was honoured to be invited to take part.

Her Sister's Secret

Familiy provides a rich seam for writers to mine and I didn't want to hold back with this story.  Just about everyone has something to hide.  Part whodunnit and part whydunnit, it was intriguing to write.  I hope my enthusiasm shines through the narrative...
